Dr. Fayaz Memon is Honorary Asst. Professor in Orthopaedics at Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Government Hospitals, Mumbai.

He practices as Consultant Shoulder and Knee Arthroscopy Surgeon and Sports Injuries Specialist at Saifee Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, Prince Aly Khan hospital, Mumbai.

Career and Education

After completing MBBS from a reputed medical college in Mumbai, and having been successful with flying colors, he could easily secure a prestigious postgraduate MS Orthopaedics seat at Mumbai. During his residency program Dr. Fayaz Memon got enormous and unmatched experience in Orthopaedic surgery which included Trauma, Spine, Joint replacements, Paediatric orthopaedics, and Arthroscopy. Dr. Fayaz Memon passed his MS Orth exams from Mumbai university in Jan 2003. After some time of post MS work at the peripheral municipal hospitals of Mumbai, Dr. Fayaz started his private practice in the peripheral part of the city. Having done good amount of challenging and complex surgeries, Dr. Fayaz started pursuing his career in “Arthroscopy Sports Injuries”, a rare skill that he always wanted to achieve.Dr. Fayaz Memon took up Fellowship in Shoulder Arthroscopy and Sports Injuries at “Arthroskopische Ambulanz” under Dr.Wolfgang Neblung at Dusseldorf, Germany. Subsequently he honed his skills by joining as Observing Fellow of Arthroscopy & Arthroplasty at “Ortho Michigan”, with Dr. A K Srivastava at Flint, Michigan,USA.

Dr. Fayaz Memon joined Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Government Hospital as Honorary Asst. Professor of Orthopaedics. Here he has been entrusted with the management of Shoulder and knee arthroscopy and Sports Injuries. He is a recognised Post Graduate teacher for the residency program of MS orthopaedics by MUHS (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences). Dr. Fayaz Memon trains Fellows in Arthroscopy Sports Injuries at Sir JJ government Hospital, Mumbai.

Dr. Fayaz Memon always strives hard to keep himself updated with the latest techniques in the field of Arthroscopy and Sports Injuries those are being developed around the world. He travels extensively to meet renown shoulder surgeons of the world to update himself with the latest techniques for better patient care. Recently Dr. Fayaz attended the onsite training programme at Soon Chun Hyang Univ. Bucheon Hospital, Korea, The Catholic Univ. of Korea Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital, Korea, and Seoul National Univ. Bundang Hospital, Korea respectively.

Dedicated Academician, a teacher, and a lifelong learner

Dr. Fayaz Memon is a recognised Undergraduate and Post Graduate Teacher by MUHS (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences). He has been allottedstudents pursuing university MS Orth degree under his guidance. He is also a recognised Post Graduate teacher of CPS (College of Physicians and Surgeons) for D’Orth and FCPS Orth courses.

Dr. Fayaz Memon regularly conducts hands on accredited cadaveric workshops at Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Government Hospital for the budding surgeons to teach them higher skills of Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy. He also conducts live surgeries to teach his delegates, students and fellows who attend the courses he conducts.

Dr. Fayaz Memon conducts regular CMEs (Continuous Medical Education) for his junior colleagues to keep them updated with the subject.

Dr. Fayaz Memon, even out of his busy schedule never misses an opportunity to learn the latest updates in his field even if it means travelling abroad to meet the world masters in the field.

Achievements

Dr. Fayaz Memon has the vast experience of thousands of complex surgeries spanning over two decades.

He has published several papers in National and International Orthopaedic Journals. He has been invited as a peer reviewer for several orthopaedic journals till date. Dr. Fayaz Memon is regularly invited as Faculty for several national Orthopaedic and Arthroscopy Conferences to deliver lectures on Arthroscopy Sports Injuries. Recognising his proficiency in the subject he has been invited at various public platforms to talk on prevention of shoulder and knee injuries.

Currently Dr. Fayaz Memon maintains an active clinical practice being affiliated to several premier hospitals in Mumbai. He is a very popular surgeon among junior and senior colleagues alike. He has operated upon several sports personalities and has a broad patient base across India and abroad. He regularly operates upon international patients.

Coming from humble roots Dr. Fayaz has unique way of treating patients by using minimal resources needed, thereby reducing the cost of treatment manifolds.He constantly innovates and evolves techniques to reduce the cost of treatment to the patient albeit maintaining the same quality. He is the strong proponent of austerity.
